New edited collection by Marijan Dović

Published on: April 15, 2019

Marijan Dović, researcher at the Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, has co-edited, with Jón Karl Helgason of the University of Iceland, the book Great Immortality: Studies on European Cultural Sainthood. Published by Brill, where Dović and Helgason also published their theory of cultural sainthood (National Poets, Cultural Saints), Great Immortality is a collection of essays on those European writers and artists whose secular national reception uncannily resembles the veneration of saints. Slovenian cases (Plečnik, Prešeren, Vraz) are covered by Dovič’s colleagues at the literary institute of the Research Centre, which is also the affiliation of Marko Juvan, who co-authored the ‘Preface’ with Sveinn Yngvi Egilsson.
