Anja Božič studied Slovenian language and literature and Latin at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, where she completed her MA in 2018 with a joint thesis on the development of the Slovenian hexameter and on Joža Lovrenčič’s unpublished translation of Ovid’s Metamorphoses. She continued her studies at Central European University, first in Budapest and then in Vienna, where she obtained a second MA at the Department of Medieval Studies (2020). At the same department, she is currently completing her doctoral dissertation on humanist panegyrics in honor of Saint Jerome. In 2024, she secured a fellowship of the Austrian Academy of Sciences to study at the Austrian Historical Institute in Rome. In 2026, she became a Research Assistant at the Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
Anja Božič’s research interests comprise humanist, Renaissance, and Baroque literature, particularly sermons. She works extensively with manuscript sources, and is regularly involved in their digitisation. Her translations from Latin include texts by Petrarch, Piccolomini and Pier Paolo Vergerio the Elder.
