New book by Alenka Koron

Alenka Koron, Independent Humanities Specialist at the Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, published her new book on modern and contemporary prose writing. Razgledi na tuje (Looking Abroad) is a book of essays on some of the key prose texts of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, from the novellas of Italo Svevo and novels of crucial contemporary writers in English to Jonathan Littell’s highly controversial novel Les bienveillantes (The Kindly Ones). The book’s concluding chapter presents a comparative analysis of fictionality in Frank McCourt’s memoir Angela’s Ashes and Lojze Kovačič’s memoir Prišleki (Newcomers). Finally, as a Slovenian-language book on books that are available in Slovenian translation, Koron’s Razgledi na tuje offers a reflection on the key questions of contemporary prose writing in Slovenian.
