Himalayan Climbers Write with the Gloves Off

The Institute of Slovenian Literature and Literary Studies at ZRC SAZU and the Slovenian Alpine Museum have organised the exhibition Himalayan Climbers Write with the Gloves Off. Author Jernej Habjan and curator Saša Mesec have presented Slovenian Himalayan climbers through the prism of the books in which they depict their expeditions to eight-thousand-metre peaks. Unlike romantic poets, who used to write poems about mountains with their gloves on and visit the mountains with their gloves off, Himalayan climbers scale mountains with their gloves on and write about it with their gloves off, often turning off romanticism as well.
